A Year in Review Writing Meme

I had a lot of RL changes last year, pandemic aside, but it serendipitously brought me back to fandom and writing after a long absence. Falling back in love with writing and fandom gave me so much joy! In such a, uh, dark timeline, I wanted to take the time to reflect on the good stuff and what I accomplished.

Story and wordcount:

7.2 stories and 37,033 words. That’s a new record for me! (The 0.2 is the one chapter of Howl that I managed to get done... no joke, I started writing Howl in 2015. Lord. I promise I'll finish it this year.)

Favorite thing you wrote:

Like Sleep Without Dreams was ridiculously fun to write. Intense and dark tentacle porn is very pleasing to my id it seems! I also had a blast writing second-person POV and will definitely be looking for more excuses to do so in the future.

What you’re proudest of:

Nothing but the Flowers. I worked so hard on it! I really challenged myself to improve my outlining and spent a ton of time researching clues and symbolism. It was totally different from anything I’d ever done before, and I love how it turned out.

Upcoming stories:

Hahaha, oh man… *looks at my overfull “backburner” folder*

I want my next WIP to be the Chrisjen/Bobbie MX longfic that I've begun outlining. But I’m terribly daunted! I need to do more research on plotting and character arcs. I also want to write the second Event Horizons fic, especially because I've already got the scenes sketched out. With all the new MCU stuff coming out this year, I have a lot of ideas brewing for that too—Sam/Bucky non-traditional A/B/O, dark WandaVision, and I also have some gay thoughts on Wonder Woman 1984…

I need to figure out some scheduling stuff if I want all this to happen.

2021 goals:

- finish the last damn chapter of Howl
- get a first draft of the MX longfic going
- write more dark smut
- do Steter week and Yuletide again
- finish my Teen Wolf bingo
